Integrative Bodywork for Horse & Rider
About Christa Rosenkranz, LMT
I strive to bring a holistic approach to equine and human bodywork. With a background in human massage therapy and certifications in Equine Sports Massage and Electro Acupressure through the hands-on Equine Sports Massage Program outside of Ocala, Florida, I specialize in helping both horses and riders move with balance, ease, and freedom. I have over 25 years of experience with horses, having attended and worked at an all girls equestrian summer camp for most of my life, and also having spent almost a decade driving teams of Belgians and Percherons in downtown Savannah, GA.
Understanding the connection between horse and rider is essential. When one is out of alignment, the other compensates. By addressing both, I help optimize movement, prevent injuries, and enhance overall performance.

Horse & Rider Integration: Moving as One
Your horse mirrors your movement patterns—when you are stiff or imbalanced, your horse adjusts, often leading to compensation patterns, discomfort, or even behavioral issues. Likewise, a horse experiencing restrictions can throw off your riding position, leading to ineffective cues and unnecessary strain.
During these sessions, I observe how you and your horse move together, identifying where imbalances originate. Is it you, or is it the horse? Through hands-on bodywork, movement assessments, and corrective strategies, I help restore harmony to your partnership. Depending on the findings of the evaluation, we focus on either the rider or the horse for treatment.
Rider Assessment: Posture, alignment, and movement analysis in and out of the saddle. Trauma, anxiety and confidence issues may be addressed from a nervous system regulation perspective.
Horse Assessment: Gait, muscle balance, movement patterns and energy flow are evaluated.
Correction & Treatment: Bodywork tailored to each individual and their unique relationship as a team.
Comprehensive Equine Bodywork
Whether your horse is an elite competitor or a beloved companion, keeping them feeling their best is essential. My equine services focus on soft tissue balance, nervous system regulation, and biomechanical efficiency to improve comfort, flexibility, and performance.
Equine Services Include:
Equine Sports Massage – Neuromuscular and myofascial release techniques relieve tension, improve circulation, and enhance flexibility, promoting overall muscle health.
P-DTR (Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex Therapy) – Addresses neurological imbalances that affect movement, restoring proper function and improving mobility.
Reiki & Energy Work – Helps support relaxation, emotional balance, and energetic healing, promoting overall well-being in the body and mind.
Surrogate Manual Muscle Testing – The practitioner uses their own body as a surrogate to assess a horse's imbalances. This technique helps detect structural, biochemical, and energetic disruptions that may not be directly tested. It provides valuable insights to develop personalized treatment plans, integrating energy work, kinesiology, and bodywork for effective healing and restoration.
Electromagnetic Frequency Vials – These vials help identify and address imbalances in the body's energy field by exposing the body to specific frequencies. They assist in muscle testing, rebalancing the nervous system, and supporting overall wellness.
Electro Acupressure – Utilizing a TENS unit for pain relief and rehabilitation, this protocol stimulates acupressure points to promote deeper releases, energy balance, and improved function.
Basic tack check – Using manual muscle testing and palpation before and after riding, the practitioner can assess if your tack is causing irritation or discomfort for your horse.
Scar Tissue Therapy for Horses
Scars from injuries or past surgeries don’t just affect the surface—they can create deep restrictions in movement and energy flow. Scar tissue can lead to stiffness, compensatory patterns, and even pain long after healing.
Scar work techniques soften and mobilize adhesions, restoring freedom of movement. This is particularly beneficial for horses recovering from:
Past injuries, especially barbed wire accidents
Poor saddle and tack fit
Chronic tension
Surgical scars
Soft tissue tears or restrictions
By breaking up restrictions and restoring mobility by also addressing the neurological component of the problem via P-DTR protocols, scar tissue therapy helps your horse feel and perform their best.
BEMER Equine Therapy
Bio-electromagnetic-energy-regulation (BEMER) therapy is a technology using a low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) to enhance circulation and promote healing in horses. This non-invasive treatment works by improving microcirculation, which in turn boosts oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues, accelerates waste removal, and reduces inflammation. The increased blood flow supports muscle recovery, reduces stiffness, and aids in the overall rehabilitation process.
This technology is ideal for improving performance, shortening recovery time after exercise, and promoting general wellness. The BEMER blanket is especially beneficial for horses with chronic conditions or those in intense training, helping them maintain peak performance and well-being. Incorporating this therapy into your horse’s care routine can support long-term health and improve overall quality of life.
