Manual Muscle Testing

Every session with Christa is customized based on the client's symptoms and complaints, with the primary goal of enhancing function, reducing pain, and achieving long-term improvements. Christa employs a range of modalities derived from applied kinesiology, utilizing manual muscle testing to gain insights into how the brain and body are functioning. Manual muscle testing involves assessing the client’s reflexive responses as they perform movements against gentle counter pressure from the practitioner. For instance, to evaluate shoulder function, the client may lift their arm while the practitioner applies light downward pressure. This technique helps determine if the muscle is strong, weak, causing pain, or compensating, allowing for a precise evaluation and targeted treatment.

In addition to manual muscle testing, Christa integrates therapeutic massage techniques to complement these techniques. Massage therapy is used to release muscle tension, improve circulation, and enhance overall tissue health, which supports correcting the findings from muscle testing. By combining massage with functional neurology techniques and manual muscle testing, Christa provides a comprehensive approach to pain relief and functional improvement, addressing both the neurological and muscular aspects of each client’s condition.

manual muscle testing and applied kinesiology

P-DTR (Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex) therapy engages with sensory receptors—such as those for touch, pressure, heat, cold, and pain—and examines how the brain processes the information these receptors send, which directly affects motor control output.

Unlike traditional therapies that primarily address the “hardware”— like tight muscles, P-DTR recognizes that much of the pain and dysfunction we experience often stems from issues with the “software”—the brain’s communication with the muscles. To use an analogy, if your computer has a virus, changing the monitor or keyboard won’t fix it; you need to delete the file that contains the virus. Similarly, P-DTR utilizes manual muscle testing, sensory challenges, and reflexes to identify and address the root causes of dysfunction at the receptor level, thereby restoring normal motor control and achieving effective pain relief.

neuro kinetic therapy

Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) is a cutting-edge neurological approach to pain relief and movement correction. This corrective movement system uses muscle testing to modify the output of information from the Motor Control Center (MCC) in the brain, which controls all body movements. Injuries and repetitive movement patterns can lead the MCC to develop compensatory patterns to avoid pain or reinjury, but these compensations often result in further imbalances and inefficiencies. Even after the initial injury heals, the body may continue to create compensations that perpetuate dysfunction. NKT® targets these improper movement patterns by reprogramming the MCC, addressing muscles that are overworking or underworking, and restoring normal, efficient movement. This process helps break the cycle of compensation and supports long-term pain relief and functional improvement.

amino neuro frequency

ANF Therapy (Amplified Neuro-Frequency Therapy) involves applying thin circular discs that emit specific frequencies for 72 hours directly onto the skin. These neuro-frequencies are transmitted through the body’s neurons, interacting with the 5-15 million chemical and electrical signals within the nerve pathways. By leveraging frequency healing principles, ANF Therapy facilitates the normalization of healing responses by delivering “correction signals” to areas that have not yet healed properly. This approach encourages the body to restore optimal function and has been demonstrated to effectively reduce pain and inflammation, even in chronic conditions. ANF Therapy’s use of targeted frequency healing supports the body’s natural healing processes and promotes overall well-being

Realign Your Energy

Energy flow in the body is essential for overall vitality, and disruptions or blockages in this flow can lead to pain, health problems, and stress. According to Chinese medicine principles and the Five Element Theory, meridian pathways of energy are linked to various organs, muscles, and bodily functions, each associated with one of the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Imbalances in these elements can affect physical and emotional health. Applied Kinesiology also connects each meridian to a group of muscles, which leads to clear connections between physical pain and energetic blockages.

Acupressure and magnet therapy applied to specific points can help restore balance by addressing these elemental imbalances. By placing magnets on these targeted points, we can correct energy flow disruptions, alleviate symptoms, and promote healing, leveraging the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine and the Five Element Theory to reduce pain and enhance your overall well-being.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A SESSION

Prepare for Your Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Session

Therapeutic massage and bodywork sessions are conducted with clients fully clothed to facilitate movement evaluation and muscle testing corrections. Please wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement, such as gym shorts, leggings, and t-shirts or tank tops. Female clients should choose a sports bra that provides minimal coverage of the spine to enable effective treatment.

For optimal results, it is recommended to schedule weekly therapeutic massage sessions until symptoms no longer recur, with progress varying for each individual. Sessions typically begin by addressing neurological imbalances and compensatory patterns that have developed over time. The therapy then moves into functional bodywork, including targeted soft tissue techniques, stretches, and self-care practices.

Clients receive guidance on at-home exercises and techniques to support healing and prevent the recurrence of symptoms. This holistic approach ensures effective pain relief, improved function, and long-term well-being.
